What to Expect for the National Gathering

Taking place November 30 through December 1 in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter, NNFS’s National Gathering is an opportunity to connect — to share challenges and successes, brainstorm new ideas, and form new relationships. Over 225 people from across the country will come together to foster an inviting, collaborative environment. They will also be encouraged to explore one of the most vibrant, historic, and inspiring cities in the world.

Thursday (day one) opens at 9 a.m. with a plenary session focused on the New Orleans fiscal sponsorship landscape and how organizations like Foundation for Louisiana and Antenna are supporting their partners' impact across the region followed by lunch and breakout sessions. Breakout Topics include Fiscal Sponsorship 101, managing risk in the fiscal sponsor relationship, and navigating the post-pandemic era. That will be followed by a second slate of sessions that will drill down on subjects such as Model C fiscal sponsorship and partnering with nonprofit funders to drive social impact.

For a full description of the 24 distinct breakout sessions, check out the Program Guide. It also includes a list of speakers and where you can expect to find them at the Gathering.

Join your colleagues for happy hour at 5 p.m. on Thursday before heading out to experience New Orleans. Check out our Guide to New Orleans.

Day two kicks off with breakfast and an interactive activity. That will be followed by the final round of breakout sessions. You can learn innovative tactics for growing your digital presence or attend the conclusion of a two-part workshop on ending a project with sensitivity while mitigating your risk.

A final plenary session will wrap up the gathering, but that doesn’t mean the work is done. The agenda also features a block of time for self-scheduled meetings. Did you connect with someone during a breakout session? Did you have an inspiring chat over a sazerac and gumbo? Did a conversation at the coffee station stick with you? This is the time to go deeper.

At the conclusion of the gathering, NNFS hopes you leave excited and ready to put what you learned to work in your communities. Read more about the National Gathering!
