The Solidarity Economy and Fiscal Sponsorship - Approaches to Power Sharing

As such, some sponsors engage in participatory governance and decision making with their projects and staff teams, often embracing or referencing cooperative and commoning values: constituent-led governance, radical transparency, consensus-based decision making, and other practices. As we work to lift up marginalized groups and foster community autonomy and self-determination, we are seeing a renaissance in Solidarity Economy solutions, notably cooperatives and mutual aid-type organizations. Fiscal sponsorship can and should be seen as one of the tools in the Solidarity Economy, if it is designed and operated according to commoning principles.
