Network Exchange: with Blair Franklin of Alight Alchemy

In this episode

In this episode, we’re speaking with Blair Franklin of Alight Alchemy. After getting their start working on a fiscally sponsored project — and experiencing a rocky relationship with said fiscal sponsor — they then shepherded that organization to 501c3 status. That experience inspired a lot of questions, including, “Is there a better way?” Now Franklin offers consulting services, helping clients think about risk, manage conflict, and think holistically about taking care of each other and their communities.

Blair Franklin

Blair brings the intersection of health equity and racial justice to the forefront within philanthropic, government, nonprofit, and fine art spaces.

  • Blair (they/she) is a Black transfemme facilitator and consultant who has worked at the intersections of health equity and racial justice for the past 15 years – within philanthropy, government, nonprofits, and the arts.  She previously ran a drop-in center for youth experiencing homelessness that moved from fiscal sponsorship to financial independence, and most recently was the Senior Program Manager of Fiscal Sponsorship at The Praxis Project.  In that role, she supported and expanded an interdependent network of community power building organizations while establishing responsive systems to meet staff and community needs.  She now runs a consulting practice called Alight Alchemy, born out of a need to better sustain our movements.  Through that work, she provides tools for fiscal sponsors to model systems of care and accountability, operational infrastructure support to grassroots organizations, facilitation & coaching for movement leaders grounded in loving accountability, and multidisciplinary healing for people moving through change.
